With great sadness, the Kendo Association of Hong Kong, China notifies you all of Sumi Masatake sensei's (Hanshi 8 Dan) passing.
Sumi Masatake sensei, aged 82, passed away in Japan on the 4th of February.
On behalf of the HKKA, I extend my deepest condolences to Sumi sensei's family.
Sumi Masatake sensei's contributions to Kendo in Hong Kong are invaluable. As an honorary advisor to the Association, he was always willing to share his expertise and rich experience, making significant contributions to the development of Kendo in Hong Kong. He would often visit Hong Kong, personally guiding us at seminars. His enthusiasm and dedication inspired many, nurturing the growth of Kendo in Hong Kong.
Sumi Masatake sensei's extraordinary contributions to the Association will always be cherished. Let us all remember Sumi sensei who made significant contributions to the Kendo community in Hong Kong, and may him rest in peace.
