Hamasaki Mitsuru sensei (AJKF Executive Director, Chairman of Development Committee, Hanshi 8 Dan) Kendo Seminar has concluded successfully

Post Date: 2026/09/03 - End Date: 2026/09/08

The 3 days Kendo Seminar (held from 21st to 23rd August), led by Hamasaki Mitsuru sensei (AJKF Executive Director, Chairman of Development Committee, Hanshi 8 Dan) has concluded successfully. Throughout this three-day seminar, Hamasaki Mitsuru sensei not only explored the correlation between Suburi and Kihon practice with the participants, but also highlighted key points for striking Men, Kote, and Do. Furthermore, he provided precise commentary through mock examinations, offered recommendations for the Hong Kong, China Squad Team's training, and finally engaged in Keiko with the participants.

In his closing summary of the seminar, Hamasaki Mitsuru sensei particularly pointed out that practitioners must overcome the habit of striking blindly based purely on instinct during practice or shiai, which leads to neglecting Kihon practice. He emphasized that the most effective path to achieving technical breakthroughs is through "reflection and refinement," ensuring that one trains with specific questions in mind. Among various training methods, he identified Suburi as the most core approach; dedicated Suburi practice significantly strengthens striking power and makes the mastery of Tenouchi far more natural and proficient. Lastly, he reiterated that regardless of the methods used or the frequency of weekly practice, the ultimate key lies in the absolute necessity for everyone to approach every single practice session with "clear goals and heightened awareness."
