Dan Grading Seminar and 7th Kendo Coach Examination (For New and Renewal of License before 2021) 2022

We are pleased to invite Roberto Kishikawa sensei (Kendo Kyoshi 8Dan) to host a Dan Grading Seminar and the 7th Kendo Coach Examination (For New and Renewal of License before 2021) on 1 October 2022 (Saturday). Details are as below:

Date:      1 October 2022 (Saturday)

Time:      9:00am – 10:00am — Coach Examination (For New and Renewal of License before 2021)

                10:00am – 12:00pm — Seminar (Dan grading)

                12:00pm – 13:00pm — Godo Geiko

Venue:     Multi-purpose Room, 1/F, Ap Lei Chau Sports Centre

Address:  Ap Lei Chau Municipal Services Building, No.8 Hung Shing Street, Ap Lei Chau, Hong Kong

Coach Examination Target:    Participants with 2 Dan or above in Kendo. Must be members of the HKKA or its affiliated dojos or with consent from President of HKKA.

Dan Grading Seminar Target: HKKA and affiliate dojo members. Priority will be given to persons who will take the Dan Examination on 4 October 2022.

Application fee (applicable to renewal and new license) includes certificate fee:

2Dan – 3Dan (Elementary)    HKD500.00

4Dan – 5Dan (Intermediate) HKD800.00

6Dan and above (Advanced)   HKD1,000.00

Please fill in the attached application form and return to HKKA, examinees are required to submit the application form together with the copy of present dan certificate and/or coach certificate if applicable.

All applicants please bring bogu and bokutou. 

HKKA will arrange a half day first aid course for coach certificate examinee and date to be confirmed; in the case of the total number of participants will fall below 20, which is the minimum requirement for a first aid course to be arranged by St. John Ambulance, examinees will then be required to apply and complete the first aid course (named “Introduction to First Aid Course” by Hong Kong St. John Ambulance) by themselves. All coach certificate examinees including renewal must complete the first aid course and will be entitled to receiving Coach certificate issued by the Association. This coach certificate will be valid for 3 years from the date of the examination on the 1 Oct 2022. Only holders of the valid Coach certificate will be invited by the Association to coach in all the Kendo classes organized by the Association. 

Please note that the deadline for application and payment on 16 September 2022 (Friday) by 5:00pm. 

Note: All new and existing coach license holders are required to return the application form to HKKA for the coach examination.

Those who are interested in the seminar MUST register through dojo representatives.

All applications will be subject to the final decision of the Executive Committee of HKKA.
